Pagan is my beautiful 17 year old Toy Poodle. She has spent the majority of her life living in Sydney where she had perfect manners, a perfect poodle haircut and very limited time outside. Now she does not even resemble a Poodle with her 'crew cut'. She is absolutely loving her new life and the freedom it brings and although she is not as agile as she once was, a day out 'Supervising' the farm activities brings her happiness.
Mignonne is the oldest and largest of my four rescue ponies. Her favourite pastimes are eating, bossing her three smaller brothers around, pulling the best 'grumpy face' on lesson day and swimming in the Pony Pool.
The ponies help on the farm by converting the grass into wonderful composting manure which we then use on the Garlic and Turmeric fields.
Jupiter is absolutely gorgeous although still quite wild. He reminds me of a miniature Grecian War Horse depicted in paintings and sculptures. He really is a big softy and can be bribed with a nice slice of bread.
Zapher's favourite thing to do, apart from eating, is to sleep. He can sleep anywhere and in any position. This often gets him into trouble (and sent to the hospital wing) to have treatment for spider and ant bites. He is a gentle darling and quite likes the extra attention given when having his injuries treated.
Faeran is such a cheeky pony. He absolutely loves to be cuddled & tickled, and if you get him in just the right spot, he dances. He was a Potty Pony which means his mum died without giving him the vital 'mothers milk' and he was left to survive on what ever he could find to eat.
Consequently, he now tries to eat everything and anything including my hair and cloths. He just loves swimming and will spend hours jumping in and out of the pony pool. His other favourite pastime is to annoy his older siblings until he can get them to chase and play with him.
These are our newest arrivals on their first day at the farm. Zebadee and Daisy were hand raised from 1 day old after being found next to their mother who had been shot. Now they have spent a bit of time getting used to their new surroundings they like nothing better than to spend the afternoon in the courtyard getting up to mischief. They have been put to work in the Turmeric fields weeding - a job I think they quite enjoy. Monty and Columbine are two of our four new chickens. Everyone knows a farm needs chickens - fresh eggs, wonderful manure for the compost and they bring a smile to our face with their fat little bottoms waddling around the garden.
